Water is our most Vital Natural Resource!

Two mountains named Maroon Bells with Maroon lake in foreground

Our planets water is the single most important substance for life on earth and the qualities of water vary considerably!

From the depths of the oceans with its bio-diverse marine life to the glaciers of the high mountain peaks, water maintains life on Earth.

For us humans many sources of water are available to us, more for some and less for others. For many the available water sources are contaminated with bacteria and chemicals such as arsenic, lead, mercury and man caused environmental pollution. Clean living water in the world today can unarguably be stated as jeopardized!

Let's come closer to home here in North America and look at the magnitude of the problem.

Large Aquifers such as the Ogallala aquifer are rapidly and alarmingly being depleted. Industrial waste and pollution have taken there tolls on our water supply and now we are finding pharmaceuticals in many of our water sources. Increasingly nitrates from agricultural fertilizer and livestock waste are contaminating our ground water. In some areas even radioactive minerals are the culprit such as those found recently in major cities around the US.

Water technologies utilized at your local water treatment plant are a good thing and are critical to our safe water supplies, but by no means do we have consistently safe water supplies. Occasionally compromised water quality necessitates the need for public warnings that are issued due to a number of reasons including excessive runoff or drought. Usually in response additional amounts of chlorine, chloramines, and other chemicals are added to offset bacterial count etc. Who knowingly would want to drink water with chemicals in it especially if they fully understood the long term consequences to their health? Of course it would beg the question about what are acceptable levels of these chemicals at least according to the latest research.

The spiraling growth of the bottled water industry is fueled by big business to provide our drinking water solutions and it would seem to be a permanent one. The concern over how healthy our tap water is for us has spawned a global industry producing bottled water of almost every conceivable brand name and in huge quantities. However in many cases bottled water has been tested and found to have contaminants such as synthetic organic chemicals, bacteria, and arsenic with some samples having unacceptable levels of these contaminants. Biphenyl A used to make plastic water bottles and the plastic lining of soda cans, beer cans, baby bottles and much more has come under scrutiny by leading researchers. On the other hand the plastic industry emphasizes to us that the plastic products used for beverages, food and water are safe at least within acceptable levels established by research and product testing.

The cost to produce all those plastic bottles in terms of industrial pollution and consumption of resources is significant. According to the Sierra Club, the U.S. alone uses 1.5 million barrels of oil to produce all the water bottles we toss each year and this number is rising steadily. And along with oil, comes unwanted toxins. The processing of plastic water bottle releases toxic compounds such as nickel, ethyl benzene, ethylene oxide, and benzene into the environment. Furthermore heavy loads of water are transported by diesel guzzling trucks and shipped by ocean freight and contribute to even more oil consumption.

Thousands of empty plastic water bottles washed up on a beach.

The sheer number of plastic bottles estimated at 25 billion a year requisitioned to public landfills where in time break down and leech chemicals into our ground water is fact enough to be a wakeup call. According to the Container Recycling Institute, in the U.S. alone, more than 67 million plastic water bottles are discarded each day. That’s enough empty plastic water bottles to fill 5500 garbage trucks each day, bury Manhattan Island one foot deep each day or wrap around the planet 149 times each year! Not easily degraded, empty plastic water bottles have become a major contributor to worldwide pollution. Alarmingly plastic water bottles make up a large ratio of the garbage patch of discarded plastic swirling in the Pacific Ocean just a few hundred miles off the coast. This enormous “plastic stew” is currently larger than twice the size of Texas and growing rapidly!

The large scale cycle of purchasing and consuming bottled water on a daily basis is not without cost. Besides the actual fiscal cost to consumers there is a huge impact to the environment and a robust cycle of purchasing, transporting, and disposing of those plastic bottles. Extrapolate potential health costs especially in cases of contaminated water, add up the entire equation and it is not rocket science that we need to collectively make positive changes to our drinking water solutions.

A large and colorful ocean wave

Good quality water is so vital to our health and well being. Water chemistry is remarkably varied in our tap water just as the solutions of water filtration systems are. Equally in consideration is the fact that water quality varies tremendously especially since we want the best water qualities for optimum health. It makes great sense to be drinking water having the best qualities called living water by some because of the health giving properties. More info on water qualities.

The all new non-electric water ionizer

The ēlita shown to the left has been researched and developed exclusively in the US for almost two years. Major design considerations included the use of green technology, filtration effectiveness and a shift to non-electric water ionization technology.

18 separate stages of premium NSF certified filtration media and non-plastic filter bodies spearheads the latest development in green water filtration technologies.

The ēlita is the first and only non-electric water filtration system that allows you to manually adjust the pH and ORP in your water. With this feature you can select great tasting water that is simply filtered and free of major contaminants. Further adjustment allows you to select any level of pH from the lowest to the highest. This exclusive feature ensures that you drink the level that tastes and feels the best for you and family! More Information...
